Vanda wants to be an artist   Vanda sits at her desk, surrounded by her work and the references that have shaped her practice. Now approaching forty, she has completed her PhD, having begun her academic journey in Portugal, where she was born. Scattered across the desk are books by some of the artists and writers who have influenced her thinking, including Hiroshi Sugimoto, Tacita Dean and Italo Calvino. Behind her, a phrase from her first exhibition, Atlas of Questions , is displayed on the wall: "Every classification is a way of forgetting. Every question is a way of remembering." Her confident gaze is as striking as the Vendo mug resting on the desk—a reminder of where she first came into being: as an Instagram avatar, before becoming Vendo's AI administrative assistant.
